Default VW Passats...

Anybody got the current shape one with the 1.9 TDi engine?

Basically i've currently got a 56 reg Vectra 1.8i VVT Exclusiv with 26k on the clock but my mileage has increased dramatically recently (costing me a forutne) so i've been considering going back to a Diesel for a while now. Anyway, i've been offered a 56 reg Passat 1.9 TDi SE for 8k with 50k on the clock, full MoT, 6 months tax, 12 months warranty and just serviced.

I've driven it and its a very nice car but i'm unsure of whether to do the deal or keep the Vectra a bit longer and hold out for something else? I've already got a buyer for the Vectra lined up mind...

Just wondering if anybody has any experience of the 1.9 TDi engine in the current shape Passat?

my mates hubby has one, and its the 170bhp model, he was saying he sees around 700 miles to a tank of fuel, 800 on a run

I was well impressed! Ive got a 51 plate Passat and i love it, i like the new ones too Look considerably better than Vectra imho.

There are 2 engines in them mate, 1.9 (the older engine with 105bhp) and the 2.0 (140 and 170bhp IIRC?)
