I quite like the A685 between the M6 and scotch corner - if you get a clear run at it then it's great!

Me and friends want to do this soon as well, if the weather holds up. I did suggest the Welsh mountains. But will consider anything.

Is that the one that goes along the bottom of the valley? If so, not that one, the one that runs parallel to it along the top of the valley along the Long Causeway! It's really challenging and largely traffic free.

Some quality roads in Scotland, right up north, before it gets single lane nonsense. Some of the Aberdeen peeps will be able to advise further....

Failing this, have heard of some sweet sounding welsh places ??

Well one of my fav road is the snake pass in the peak district, A57.
Some mega roads great roads in Wales near Aberystwyth (think that how its spelt!)
Devils Bridge and the roads to Builth Wells from Aberystwyth, but the small road thought the forests.

The one that runs over the top from Todmoreden to Burnley - it essentially follows the route of the railway

My favourite is the road from Aberaeron to Llandysul.

At the opposite end of the scale, if you're looking for outright speed, there's a stretch of the M54 that's virtually deserted most of the time, there's the 4 lane section of the M2 southbound, and part of the M69 where you can see clearly for miles in front and behind you for any unwanted attention.

Edinburgh to peebles, I've done it in under 15 mins in the dead of the night back when I was silly enough. Brilliant driving road.

Scotland is full of ace driving roads in fact.

I have to agree but there are some right dodgy bits, i fooked a gearbox mount on that road with the hammering it got.

Still a great road.

can only think of shortish roads, but...13 bends (yep as deadly as it sounds), snake pass i imagine to be very good, lots around matlock and the peak district.

as im sure kosman will agree, and others from derbyshire area, as the boost kicks in going up slack hill it can be very fun its a very steep hill, 14% i think, you go down a steep hill to it which you have to do very slow, then put it in 3rd and boot it up the hill waiting for the turbo to kick in. a friend of mine does it in his golf gti all the time haha
