My 406hdi, did a trip to Spa in belgium and back, fully loaded, on a trackday visit, 915 miles to less than a tank, 59mpg. Cant fault that economy really. Everyday driving is about 53mpg

Best has been my previous Vw Bora TDI 130 6 speed

I was getting 62-65mpg and on a longer haul could achieve 70 i reckon no problem

Even booting it hard was still getting 48/49 mpg

Great car and missed badly

IMO the ZS version not bad looking little runabouts either. Mine has full leather, sat nav, hfs, so nice to drive too and always returns 60+mpg where ever you drive it

sounds like your be getting better mpg without a car for work tho lol

106 XND did 550+ to a Ł40 tank.

Current car is an 07 Golf GT that easy does 60+ on the motorway, overall combined is 45. A bit worse than the pug but a lot heavier and faster.

my most economical car was a little citroen ax 1.4 diesel i bought just to run to work an back. that used to do 70mpg easy. yet i have a 406 1.9td for work now and its real good, 50 odd to the gallon, but its better on a motorway journey.

My wifes Isuzu truck, just get in it, drive, take it home.

Done loads of miles, never put a penny in it - fantastic economy (accompanied by occasional ear ache)

Fiat Sceicento Sporting. Stuck Ł15 in it and it lasted nearly a fortnight. Why did I have it?

It was free as it needed a headgasket and I sorted it and sold it for a profit. No way I'd drive a fucking rollerskate like that

my 06 octavia tdi would run to about 60 or a bit over if i was trying to save juice (usually if i was a run to do in my own time ) but on a thrash it was much lower (how do you guys get 45 and thrashing?)

at 120mph it was 18-24mpg (the private lane i used runs parrellel to the a14)
acceleration 12mpg bottom

did over 100k it that thing, i loved it, the superb i had before was shocking on juice and did a set of 17's in in 6k heavy old bastard that was tho

her x type 2.0d jag, that does 40mpg and on a run is about 50mpg, quite good for a car that size imo.

Ive owned vags derv, fords derv pugs derv, vauxs derv and still to this day the pug is the quietest engine and smoothest to drive IMO

Borrowed my mates 150 cdti astra a few weeks ago and fuck me from stone cold startup you would wake the neighbours , my escort TD van was quieter as i started it up to compare

It would have to be my old astra 1.6 belmont on k reg, used to put Ł20 in on a thursday and use it all week, i.e driving to my exs on friday 30miles north of me at uni, then sat eveing drive another 30miles home, then go to my best mates, bout 25miles south of me then a few mile down his way and them home, then to work everyday in it bout 6 mile round trip and it would be rallied every single mile! dont know on the mpg as the speedo didnt work nor the petrol gauge! was bit of a shock going from that to my rs trubo.

My 997cc 1962 Ford Anglia Van, does around 40 to the gallon and a close second in the missus RS1800i Fiesta, on a recent run, following said Anglia van she got over 40 to the gallon, and on a run up to the lake district at New Year we got 38 mpg

So all in all cant complain at those apples !
