knocking lock to lock

knocking lock to lock
When theres a bit of knock, mainly when turning lock to lock when stationery would this be an indication that my track rod ends could do with replacing?
If so can anybody reccommend how to check if they deffo need doing and where is the best place to get a set from?
do ford still do um?
