turbo removal how easy is it?
im looing to remove the turbo to replace the copper banjo seal to the turbo on the engine side of the turbo, not the one on the side nearer the wing, its for the water, my questin is whats involved to change it, is it a turbo off job or a manifold off job? any help will be greatly appreciated
the bolts will be seized, they all are lol!
undo exhaust, oil feed an dreturn pipes and boost pipe, undo manifold bolts and lift out carefully.
don't try to remove turbo from manifold, just take the lot off, much easier.

If you cant get to the part with the turbo in just whip it off. Will take you about 15 mins mate, dead easy. Undo oil return pipe, undo pipe to intercooler and take off vacuum pipes. Unbolt 3 bolts on downpipe. Undo 4 bolts holding turbo to the manifold and its off.

If its a 4wd manifold you could take the whole manifold off, but if its a 2wd then taking the manifold off would be 10x harder as some of the bolts are a complete basterd to get to with the engine in.
if its 4x4 it sill easier to do it with the manifold on, easier if you remove the top alternator bolt & drop the alternator a bit its not to bad, i normally replace the 17mm nuts with 15mm ones so its even easier if you ever have to take it off again.

its a 2wd saph guys soz i shudda said, so its a manifold drop job then? am best doing an oil change at the same time? so am i undoing the studs that go into the head or is there other bolts, i understand also the downpipe has to come off too, oil return
DON'T remove the manifold, two of the nuts are a bloody nightmare, and they don't need to be undone.
The job really is a piece of piss with just removing the manifold by undoing the four nuts, that hold it onto the trousers or the trousers themselves.
If I was doing it I wouldn't even remove the turbo, it doesn't need removing to do this job, it's awkward but do able with a open ended spanner.
