Right it all started when i got offered a sapph which had been sitting for seven years and was supposed to be mint for £2000 when i got there it looked ok on the face of it but had rusty arches which had been boged up before and paintwork was horrible but now @ £850 i had to have it.
Pictures when i got there.

After a bit of tinkering she fired up and drove onto the trailor bit noisy but not bad considering the time it had sat.
Next i cleaned it up a bit and gave it a bloody good service all belts, sensors, filters and oils and apart from a noisy lifter it ran real nice and drove without fault.

Next is where it all went bad got it up in the air to check underside and change a few perished bushes and found lots of rust inner seals rusted through holes in boot behind bumper and worst the rear beam mounts where really bad so decided to find a new shell.
After a few cars that was not quite right i found this.

3 owners
670000 miles
all original panels and etched glass
History
Mint cloth interior
Fully polly bushed
Avo coil overs (front)Koni (rear)
No rust any where not even surface rust underneath.
So a deal was struck and the car was delivered friday morning and the stickers where removed straight away it took me 2 days and it was running M.O.T'd and taxed on the tuesday and drove to the ace cafe meet that night which it did without fault apart from a little prop vibration this is how it looked then

Now after a few weeks i have sold the O.Z super t's and refitted the originals to get some money back towards parts fitted cdf side skirt clips and after a good polish it looks like this.

I now have all the parts i need to change the lifters and im goin to give the engine bay a bloody good clean while im doin them.
After that plans are to get the bit of paint work done and fit a set of rs 7 spokes then stg3 if i can stretch.
Plans where to sell this once done to buy another escos but im becoming quite attached to my sapph.
Thanks for reading ill update when the engine bay is done.
Matthew

Dont worry i paid no way near the asking price .
It had a power engineering 2.4 engine which he removed to use in a 3 door.
He owned it since 1992 was about 55-60 years old i could'nt really work out what led him to believe the stickers looked good also had a starter button with the words let the fun begin next to it! and stainless dials these have also been removed.

Got the flint grey one for £2500 but since sold the coilovers and morrettes and a couple of other bits lays in about £2000 there was cheaper ones but considering mileage owners mint interior and no rust anywhere (underside is like the day it left the factory)I dont think i got a bad deal.
