Rear hubs. Are they interchangable?

Just a quick thought. Do rear bare rear hubs, IE no drums etc have a specific side or will they go on anyway?

either side dude, i had to buy a replacement, and spent ages trying to work out if it was sided, but would appear to be identical for both sides
