Default I thought i'd treat the cossie nice for once. Why did I bother?! Lol!

I thought I would give the cossie a good old clean and polish as it was looking well grubby and then nip down to the Essex RSOC night.

And it repays me by doing this!

Pulled back onto the motorway at South Mimms to meet up with Jimmy (Charlie Luciano), got about a couple of miles up the motorway and noticed that my rev counter flickering whenever i indicated, switched anything on etc.......

It sorted itself out for a couple of miles then started farting about again.

By this time i was approaching the Ilford junction so decided to turn back. About 1 mile it packed up completely. Alternator bolloxed!

Called the AA and after ages telling them to send a truck not a van as it had to be recovered, they said they had to send a van to assess. I told them I was an AA patrol myself and knew it wouldnt be repaired but they wouldnt have it! Phoned the operations centre, told them the score and they sent a truck straight out!

Got picked up within 30 minutes!

Oh well, looks like the trusty old ST24 will be winging its way up to national day instead!

Fuck fixing it, the engines wanked out anyway so I'll just take it off the road now for the winter and rebuild it.

Gutted !

I went to Germany 2 years ago, spent weeks getting a car ready, blew several gearboxes up the week that we were leaving, were still fixing it the morning of the ferry so we left late and after all that the bastard dropped a valve going through Brussels !

Somethings just aren't to be eh !

If its tired I wouldn't track it anyway as it will probably end up screwing up a lot more than a alternator !

Always the way!!

I wasnt going to track it, I was just going to drive it gently up there and then thrash the arse out of it on the way back! Lol!

Might as well just rip the bastard to bits early and crack on!

Owned a Sierra since 1992 and not once have they been on a tow for mechanicals. I've moved it between garages when it was getting rebuilt twice, but never for a breakdown. I must be lucky or not drive far enough from home!

You sir were not. Sucks when it happens right before something you need that car for.

The annoying thing is, I gets driven proper hard at every possible oppertunity and I kept fully expecting something major to break but for something so stupid like this to fuck up pissed me off!

It only had to last another week before it was going to be taken off the road for an engine rebuild!
