Default Rolling Radius / Speedo

Right, my speedo is too far out as when I am at 40 mph on the speedo it reads 32 mph on them digital signs, at 60mph its like 53 mph or something. I am sure that the wheels are causing this as they are 185/55/14. What tyres will I need to get a similar rolling radius to the 13" with dounghuts that were most probably supplied with the car (I didn't take the original steelies when I bought the car).

I also have another speedo cluster I got from the scrappy that I can always try if the radius is not out.

Thanks in advance.

i just adjusted mine to suit i had a mk5 escort and went to 205/55/15 then to 205/50/15 then too 205/45/17 and all i did was pull the needle stop out let it rest it'll spring round a bit to release the tension of the spring, adjust it by eye of how much you think it needs then try again, it's trial and error but i didn't find it too much hassle, i used my sat nav as the true indication and it worked fine i never got caught in a speed camera anyway

try it on your second hand set of clocks first just incase you make a mistake.

P.s to pull the needle off use 2 spoons to prize it off without bending the pin it sits on , putting it back on you have to be careful too that you dont move it otherwise you'll be making it worse hope this helps.

Thanks for that website. The tables and calculators where useful. I found an advert for a mk3 steelie and it has a 145/80/13 tyre on it (I'm guessing stock size), so as mine has a 185/55/14 it is correct to the table and only 0.54% out.

As for setting the clocks back, I could do with doing that as the spare set has 48k more on them (Scrap car 88k, my car 130k) xD
