RSOC they really dont think at times
story is i convinced pete of SPEC R to do nat day even though it has been put foward 2 weeks. so he rang to see how much a stand would be. an 8 metre front would cost 240 quid and would only include 2 car passes and 2 personel passes. now that is realy poor as he did trax and got a garage and space for 10 cars which included personel passes and cars for 500 quid and thats at silverstone too . RSOC said they couldnt do a better deal. now as nat day is going to be quieter and probally will be missing a few traders dont you think it would be in thier best intrest to get another trader to come. pete hasnt done nat day for 3 years and prob will not do any more. i just think the RSOC are shooting themselfs in the foot !!!!!!!
If you lower the price for one company and someone else finds out then word spreads you've very soon got a lot of people asking for reduced prices... And then expecting the same deal next year...
Can see your point, but can also see why the RSOC are sticking to their guns. Doesn't seem like a lot of cash for a stand in a show aimed at the most hardcore enthusiasts if you ask me!

Show prices are generally reduced so say its down to 10% profit on everything
Even without any other overheads such as hotel, fuel, transport, staff etc
Thats £2400 in sales just to break even on stock, which on a wet cold day in September isn't going to happen on certain stands.
Dan some shows charge less for auto jumble stands so that argument does not work with me. They are trading just the same

there is a lot of time and effort to put on a trade stand. you never know if you will sell anything or not. the attendance IS going to be down this year so doesnt give the traders as much insentive to go. maybe a good deal on a pitch with the RIGHT amount of passes would make it worth going. oh well another missed opertunity by the RSOC
thats the reason I dont do shows any longer, the price of the stand the praperation to get ready and then no one spends any longer
I used to love the shows lots of fun and banter with the punters and got rid of obscure parts the bufty boys needed,i used to take an entire car to break on the day,no one has ever done that
the shows used to be great I really miss them
the trade have to pay big to stand and the bedrrom bandits pay sod all really, total waste of time and effort,

If he cant recover them costs then he shouldnt be in business
ND is one of the top 3 shows in the year and grabs more sales for people like Pete than any other place
It is also not always about how much you take on the day , I would say it will do Pete more good to get his name and face back in the light than anything else
The only reason i dont trade there is baecause " As Tony mentioned " traders ( real ones ) are charged more than the auto jumble people , WHY , they are selling the same stuff as me
What a load of shit

its NOT a load of shit mate. he wants to do the show but he needs lots of cars showing his products. with 2 car passes that isnt going to happen is it. the value compared to trax last week is very poor. is there going to be 20000 people at nat day i hope there will be for the sake of the club but i very much dout it. in your is of the buisness i can understand what your saying. i and he thinks it is a missed opertunity.

I'd have thought in light of how quiet its likely to be they could have stretched to allowing him a couple of extra car spaces, but like DanW says, they arent going to want to do him too many favours and risk pissing off the traders who have paid up and supported the event already.

I agree that no-one's buying much car show anymore
My brother & I did autojumble at VW Festival (Harewood House)
Near enough a full weekends work for the £200 each we made, totally wore us out & we were pretty much giving stuff away
My brother's gone back to doing motorbike bits & Honda C50's...... no money in breaking VW's anymore

i must agree it will be hard selling vw stuff to ford fans
Well the Trax attendance this year was 16.8K which was up 30% on last year, so I'd be very surprised if Nat Day (not taking anything away from the event)got near that.
Having said that, it's a show aimed at a very niche market, and so if you take just Ford products pretty much everyone there is your potential customer, whereas at a multi-marque show only one-in-ten will be interested.

thats good news about trax. spec r do do multi, marque products though. i think if he was given a few more passes he would do it its a shame as i love putting my car on his stand

as many would not have had a holiday abroad ect this year due to current situation it would not surprise me to see people taking more days out in uk and as a result (weather dependant) national day may well be superbly attended.
trade stand at any show is always gonna be a gamble so you pay your money and take your chance.

Well the weather forecast is very good for the whole weekend,so that will get more people to Nat Day
