I am still into it - Looking at getting another L200 Warrior next year for the fun of the mud runs again

 

r the l 200s anygood off road then i dint think they would be to long in the axle length for off roading

 

I would be if I wasn't scared of breaking it.....

 

thats part off the fun breaking them rolling them then getting them fixed ready for the next month

 

L200 = VERY capable

I off road my jimny whenever i can. Totally standard other than Grabber all terrains. Opting for muds when they need replacing. I drive mine daily and tackle most things off road, as long as its not silly angles or really deep water i'll have a go. Would rather drive all day and get my moneys worth than bust it or flood it early. I go to Lincs off road events if they are close enough and a few of us have got together in Peterborough now too.

 

i rock it out in an L200 myself not a bad truck beds a little long and could do with bobbing also alternators fail in deep water apart from that a very capeable truck would upload pics but have no idea how as im on my n97

Ok they are comfy, but come on, if your serious about off roading it has to be either Landrover or the old little Suzukis or the old hylux

The modern jap crap are not offroaders

This landy which is my daily work horse always puts the biggest smile on my face.

Im still modding it, waiting for a new interior, as well as new 2"+ lift springs as ive ruined the ones one ther buy using the hiab with out the outriggers.

I painted it on new years eve, im so much happier with it, i hated the white!




This is from when I had to pick my wife up from work last year as the roads were flooded and i didnt want her driving the golf through it all.

I thought id make a little video of the first few mins of the drive, its a 10 min drive, but i thought you get the idea after a min or two.

I was only doing about 40-50mph as it was very slippery and not to mention the landy is in desperate need of a head gasket. (the egale eared may just hear it ticking under boost when the turbo winds up at the start)

Looks mean right enough but i prefer Landrovers.

 

i never need recovering so no point having one i can drive through rivers in that mutha

its more a case of being a tight fucker near on Ł700 for a winch bumper alone is enough to put me off i could buy 3 for a landy for that money it sickens me ive only just started on it so its early days already lifted suspension and body combined with the rims and tyres its a beast

 

If you haven needed a winch then your not being extreem enough.

Mine is well in excess of Ł1k, it can pull 4 tons dead weight! but so worth it, not just for getting out of trouble, but at work its a grwat tool. from felling trees to moving half loaded skips!

Have seen a few good deals on ebay. usually people upgrading to bigger winches selling their first ones.

are these popular with off roaders? or are they rubbish?

 

yeh off-roading is mental i use to go out in my disco every sunday but cant afford to do it now, shoguns aint to bad but there not too fond of deep water, good for green laning though

 

going to gaydon this weekend wid me mate and his disco

 

oh ive never bin there, its suppose to be really boggy there, i use to go woodlands, bures, and paddock wood

 

wheres that mate lol

 

woodlands is in west kingsdown, and paddock wood is in bolney village, not sure about bures as i went as a passenger

 

I've done in a bit in my time. Currently no vehicle to do it in. Might get back in to it at some point.

god for green laning and the sort of thing in my video.

But not proper stuff, unless you spend serious amounts. mostly the problem are the over hangs and general lardyness with a shogun (+ they are the pikies 4x4 wepon of choice when they are not driving their transits)

Dont forget to budget for repairs. A lot of people do not consider the cost of running a dn parts on 4x4's

I spend the best part of Ł1k last year just sorting out the suspension. And im not talking aftermarket fun, just normal stuff like bushes and sterring halves, brake pads and disks, half shafts.

She is due 4 new tyres this winter So thats another Ł600-700.

Not that I mind as the rears have done about 90k miles!!!!
and fronts are well on for 50k miles or hard use.

But you just have to bear in mind when parts are needed, its usually big money, and I do all work my self!!

Most 4x4's do around22-26 MPG, even after 5 years with my landy now, I still am paranoid I have a fuel tank leak

A full tank on mine is Ł110 and I can expect that to last just over a week.

 

I've started going into the desert off roading which is really popular over here. Will get some pics of my next trip. I'm using a land cruiser which seems to be everyones choice of vechile out here on the sand. Really good fun!

 

iv been doing a bit here in australia, in my chreokee jeep, its such good fun, when i lived in the uk , north downs in surrey was the place to go 4x4ing, would put some pictures up, but dont know how to,

Heres a couple of pics of my "girls car" in action.






The top pics were on a fairly tame course compared to where i normally go but i had the kids with me so it was perfect, we spent all day showing bigger trucks what the little zuk could do that there dearer and bigger trucks couldn't. The lower pics are from Manby and anyone whos ever driven there will know how the mud gets there, always a good day out there, especially in the snow, once that melted later on it was unbelievably deep mud.

I had a SJ410 ages ago but couldn't afford a 2nd car anymore at the time. I still firmly had the bug so bought the Jimny later on. I absolutely love it! Its just like an SJ with coils, injection and power steering. I struggle in the deepest ruts where it drags the diffs (diff guards to come) and often sits on the radius arms but a lift and bigger tyres will do my head in on road. As i said earlier i drive it daily and apart from silly side slopes and windscreen deep water i'll tackle most things. The lift and tyres will only get you so far. I'd love a really sorted truck but for the time being this does everything i want.

The AT tyres suffer in really deep mud so i'll be getting muds next time, i just struggled to get any at the time in my size. It still gets on well though due to its light weight but lest face it if you don't get stuck you're not trying hard enough!

Just don't mention the fuel economy- dont be fooled because of its 1.3 and small size!

My neighbour has a 3.0 landcruiser that returns him an AVERAGE of 30mpg, thats a pipe dream for me in my zuk. Cruisers are awesome trucks and rightly command the premium, as i hear it all the places like iceland, oz, s/africa love them for the bags of power and reliability and lockers as standard.

Round here the pikey weapon of choice now is the L200 Usually the 4life in red/green/blue and silver 2 tone. Easier for nicking scrap in!

 

 

Not a pikey, but do have a Pajero ! hefty wheels, combination of suspension lift, and body lift, means shes got pretty good ground clereance, good fun !
