Default Brakes

ok i have looked around and have found some information on brake upgrades for the s1...

so the most common is the cosworth conversion (??)... what is needed to convert the fronts to cosworth spec? apart from the calipers..disks...pads?also if i can get my hands on some ap's for a cossy will they fit same as the normal ones?

also what about the rear?? there bloody drums standard...do people change them to disks or just beef up the fronts?? i think i seen a conversion from burton power but couldnt make it out...

cheers

don't do the ap's won't work i don't think with the cossie calipers you just space them out with a washer or two, or you could upgrade to focus st170 brakes on the front quiet a lot of people run this set up now as better to buy new than old and leave your rear brake till your pushing some high bhp and get a inline bais valve when you do. if you want more advice speak to reyland

rite well my brakes suck at the mo! like its being stopped by bike brakes or summin...i will be running bout 200bhp...but even if i was running with minor mods i always like sharp brakes... focus st170 brakes are better than 2wd cossie ones??

oh and escort1989uk thanks for the info.

I put cossy front brakes on my sereis 1, 2wd discs with 4wd calipers and pads. Put Series 2 rear drums on they are 9inch drums where as series 1 are 8 inch.

focus st170 are the best imo, but require 16's +
if your std or not big power then 4x4 cossie calipers and 2wd discs, fit straight on 1mm washer

i personally wouldnt bother upgrading the rears, they are actually pretty good as std

You can just upgrade the rear cylinders to keep the bias ok.
