Anybody now if i can use a standar Escort tailgate on my Cosworth ?
I now it`s different part number, because of spoiler hole, but i don`t now if it`s different otherways. I have use edix an search after new ones, and it`s 3 Ford dealers ho have the one whit out big spoiler

Edix is a program that you can search after parts number on almost all Ford dealers in the world ho is connected to it, we have it on my work. But this 3 tailgates are so fare away from here, so if i now i can use a standar Escort one, it`s easier to get one. Mine have big wing

no he wants the whale tail but wants to know if a standard escort mark 5 tailgate and drill it to fit the whale tail on.

no they are different a proper escos tailgate has blanking caps where the lower spoiler fits and a flat section underneath where the top spoiler sits, this is so the bolt heads sit right and not on an angle

the only panels on an escort cosworth and a normal escort is the roof so it will not be any good

 

It`s a bit rusty, thats the reason i have to change it, and yes i will use upper and lower spoiler, or maybe a wrc one.
Some people say i can use a standar one, other say i can`t. If anybody have one used whit out rust, i am interested

 

You can use a normal escort tailgate fine, the only slight difference is where the spolier bolts on inside the tailgate. But that does NOT affect how the spolier sits at all. You'll get anal bufties that are able to say you've a non cosworth boot lid, but do you really care?

My mate used a normal one on his escort when he rebuilt it, jacko from here fitted the spolier and painted it, so may be worth PMing him?

they are different, depends on how well you want your rear spolier to fit afterwards tho!?

 

you can but you need to make some hole,s in the inner skin to fix the whale tail at the top but easy done, i did mine

 

I have got a complete tailgate whit spoilers, window and every thing, on hand in Norway now, think i would go for it
