Somebody is advertising a s2 motorsport edition is there such a thing??? i know they made a s2 with no elec windows, central locking etc but is this a motorsport edition??? its advertised on pistonheads

 

I have heard of that before, not sure about the official stance on it though.

Its a non custom series 2,poverty spec,calling it a motorsport edition is rubbish mate,just a ploy to impress people.By the way,some non custom models didnt have Recaro's either.Regards,Micky

 

I wouldnt call the seller a bullshitter, I brought a series 2 on a D plate around 8 years ago it had no sunroof, no central locking and no recaros, and on the log book im positive it actually said Ford Escort Rs turbo Motorsport.

Many manufactures do a motorsport edition such as escort cossies and some rare evos! There is often fuck all difference from standard (Ford anyhow) just means the motorsport guys can buy them cheaper and will have less expensive items to chuck in the skip when they strip the shell to carry out proper motorsport modifications!

But do you honestly think Ford thought the S2 RS turbo (or xr3i with a blower) was enough of a motorsport prospect that swarms off rally/touring car builders wanted to buy them up to warrent them spending the thousands it would of cost to organise the production lines for a limited 'motorsport' special?

My money would be placed on Ford producing poverty spec cheapo versions to temp the 'just a bit more than an xr3i sir' crowd.

True m8, but there is definitly no such thing as a motorsport edition as mickey says its just to make it look good, its just a series 2 non-custom, but does look nice all the same!!

you can write whatever you like on a logbook when u send it off to the dvla. i could have had RS turbo written on mine, but kept it poverty spec with the 'popular'

 

you would only be able to change the colour,and engine size on the log book,not tell them its an rst,everyone would be doing it so there car would be worth more
