Default Mk4 xr3i efi - "stable" idle with dismounted IRV!?!?

Hey folks

I got a car, a ford mk4 1.6 cl (1988), which was later rebuilt with a 102 hp xr3i efi engine. (1990)

Yesterday i went out to throw a green filter on it, i blinded the hoose going to the irv (no place on the new filter for it) and it still goes like nothing ever happend?

Its keeps 1200 rpm when cold, but when in running temperature it swiches between 1500 to 2000. mostly 2000.

How come my irv didnt make a different at all? Im getting sick of hearing it idling so high all the time, rather embarrasing.

Any ideas aout whats broken?

You have an air leak somewhere or the throttle base setting is wrong.

just the linkage that opens the throttle butterfly with a hammer gently, the bit that's in contact with the stop on the throttle bidy, a few gentle taps will bend the tab a little and drop the revs.
too much and you'll need to bend the tab a little to open the throttle.

There's an adjustment screw in the throttle body to take the idle down.

The idle screw, is a little flat one to the left of the intake hole?

I found one and turned on it a little, then the car started "shooting", so i just turned it back again haha :P The idle the drop tho.

Oh lord this doesnt sound good. ANYBODY know what that screw is ??

But it CANT be the mixture/CO can it!? I mean, my engine is an efi it should be self adjusting?

I try and remove the throttle body someday, but i would need a remote irv first.
