Angry Help someone please-broke my Mk4 XR3i!!!!!

Really f****d up last night!
Mk4 Escort XR3i CVH EFI.
I have a brass t-piece fitted to the oil pressure sensor hole on the back of the block for connection to additional oil pressure gauge in car. Whilst originally fitting the then new T-Piece last year part of the threaded collar the sensor screws into cracked off but luckily the thread on the t-piece was longer then the original sensor thread so still screwed into the block and did not leak. Last night whilst fitting new sender unit I managed to overtighten and then snap off the T-Piece in the block!!!!
I assume that I cannot do anything with the engine in the car, what are my options now with it out apart from the obvious new engine, can I get the hole welded/repaired?
Can a new threaded hole be made for oil pressure gauge either in original repaired position or somewhere else.
Have tried some chemical metal to block the hole for now to see if it works as temp fix, will this work or should I be using something else?
Appreciate any help you can give please-feeling very stupid right now

If ive read it right can you use an easy out to get the broken piece out of the block ? then fit a new t-piece where the old one was.

Its like a backwards tap if you get the right size you just wind it into the broken bit in your block till it bites then just screw it out with the broken bit attached hey presto broken bit out without damageing the thread

no your engine is not a write off, and as said above an easy-out should do the job,if your unfamilar try and get someone who has used them because there is a bit of method to it
failing that any good garage or engineering works will be able to do it no problem.

You'd be better off using a square twist extractor to get it out, what material was it alloy or brass ?

as said before an extractor is needed, easy out etc.
they can be awkward to use though an dstrip their own threads, but it should come out easily given it is brass.

Trouble is there is only about 1mm of it sticking out of the block plus access.
Pain in the arse to get at, at the least will have to take head off.
To be honest I think it needs drilling to collapse whats left of it and maybe re-cut thread so looks like engine out job!

get to it from underneath, it is brass and therefore will walk out with minimuim fuss, just get the correct size easy out to do it with.

you only need an extractor set, cost about Ł8 or thereabouts at most.
the little hole in the middle of the adaptor will be enough to get a purchase on and undo it.
taking the head off is making a massive job of something simple.
and yes, go from underneath.
if there is some sticking out, then blutack in the hole (to stop matal going into oil feed) and chiesel the remaining bit of the fitting round so it unscrews.

Sound like I might be able to sort this then myself, I will look at it again tomorrow and put the engine removal on hold!

Next question then, due to lack of space behind engine, do I need a flexi shaft for the drill or 90 degree drill atachment?
Or can I just get it out with hand tool?

you use a spanner or ratchet to use the extractor.

Right, have looked at this again tonight, it has broken off flush with the block face which makes life difficult, have ordered some easy outs so will see what I can do when they arrive-was going to add a photo on here but don't know how to do it!
Anyway, only problem is when I put a screwdriver into the hole it feels like there is no back to what's left of the t-Piece thread-it shoud be solid with a small hole in it. If something breaks off within the oil pressure gauge hole in the block where would it go-down into the sump? Not sure what the back of the oil pressure gauge gallery opens up into and cannot see right down it!

I'd of thought thats how its suppost to be with no back on so as the oil flows through it and you get a reading for your gauge/pressure switch.
If anything thats better for getting it out as your easy out wont bottom out and you'll get a good purchase on the broken bit

The easy out worked and the car lives again!
Well, until I break something else that is!!!!!!
