Default Mondeo 1.8td noisy tappets

Hi All,

The list of faults with the ramshackle mondeo is getting smaller at last... New cambelt(s) are on, new alternator has sorted the fluctuating lights and the new water pump seems to have sorted the temperature. Having changed the oil the tappets seem to be quite a bit noisier than they were. Do you think this could be that the old oil was very sludgey so keeping them quiet or something more sinister?

Thanks in advance,

Matt

I guess what this really needs is the shims sorting out however I don't have time to do it. Unfortunateley it only started after the oil change yesterday.. Are their any additives anyone would reccomend or should I just leave it as is?

Any help greatly appreciated

Only thing you can do is shim them when you have time, most are never done, you can always check them to get your clearances known, then put together, not much work to do work out your shims, bearing in mind it's perfectly safe to do swappsies on these, then buy your shims, about £3 each that you need, very common size diameter then just swap over later.
