Just replaced the engine in my 1998 Escort 1.8 Gti with one out of a 1997 Escort 1.8 Gti, the 97 engine came with the ecu for it and I want to try swapping them over to see which one the car runs best on
Problem is I can't find the damn thing in the car, web searches aren't helping me find it so I'm wondering if anyone on here knows where it will be?
Cheers

Found it now, it's on the post at the side of the car in the passenger footwell
There's a plate over the top of it that's riveted in place ... time to get my trusty old drill out

Yeah mate
Got it changed, I had the key that goes with the ecu I was putting in, but it won't turn the ignition anyway so unless I wanted to mess around getting the chips changed over its pointless
There's a problem with it idling, cleaned out the idle control valve from the 98 engine and put that in, didn't cure it (I also tried 'resetting' the ecu)
What I'm about to do next now is put the 97 idle control valve back in now I've cleaned that one out
It's also going for a diagnostics check the middle of next week if putting the other valve back in doesn't sort it
I'm wondering if the induction kit that's gone in it is having an effect there even though it runs really well once it's moving
