Mileage: 82,400 (thereabouts)
Year: 1985 (B reg)
Model: Custom
MOT: 12 months (went straight through its test yesterday with no advisories)
Tax: None
History: all old MOT’s to verify mileage, most tax disks and various receipts
HPI: Clear
I have owned this car since Jan 2003 (6 and half years) and in this time it has covered approximately 6000 dry miles and lived in my garage. When I purchased it I spent my time looking around the country for a good original straight example and was lucky to find this one.
I took it out the garage yesterday for the first time in 11 months to get it’s MOT and it started first time without any smoke and drove beautifully on an approx 50 mile round trip being its only journey since its last MOT. It is this lack of use which makes me think I may as well sell her, although if it doesn’t sell before, or I decide to keep it, I shall take her to National Day for the Series 1 anniversary.
The Body and Exterior
The car is in overall good condition wearing its original panels and the only welding it has had is patch to the rear floor about 3 years ago. There is no sign of repairs to the body, with the exception to the aforementioned, all the panels are original ford. In addition this car has never been restored although in 2001 a previous owner stripped it down and had it painted and reassembled.
The paint is good as you shall note form the pictures. However, she does have the usual stone chips on the rear arch extensions, but by no means are they scruffy. The body kit is good with the exception of a split on the front passenger side arch extension on the inside facing the tyre which could do with repairing. There is also a patch of rust coming up on the rear scuttle on the drivers side on the weld seem on the corner which although has not rotted or gone through the paint could do with sorting to keep her at her best.
The car has its original alloys which I had refurbished in Hi-power silver, which prior to this wore the cars reg as does all the glass, including the sunroof, with the exception of the window screen which must have been replaced at some point. Likewise I have the original keys and the car still wears the original Ford locks.
The Interior
The interior is original and in good condition though the dash could do with replacing as it has the usual cracks and some holes wear it used to have no smoking sign, at the asking price I will include a brand new dash purchased although never fitted. It has an RS 4 spoke steering wheel which could do with being re-trimmed though will come with the original which is in good condition. The bolsters and door arm rests are good, no sagging and only very minimal wear, no where near going through the velour. The only other thing to note here is that there is a small cigarette burn on the front passenger seat which melted the fabric but has not gone through. Also there is a small rip in the carpet although I have a good replacement carpet to go with the car.

Body and interior standard except clear indicators
If I keep the car I would have the engine bay and boot floor painted as this could now do with being done to freshen it up and is something you may like to note.
Overall a good original and useable Series 1 which was rare enough when I purchased it and must be even more so now.
