Default dash lights not working

hi my dash lights are not working i have got oil light, battery light,and hand brake when i turn ignition on then i start it and the oil light and battery light goes. when i turn me lights on i have no speed'o lights and rev temperature and fuel lights wot could it be .

John, the circuit board that runs those lights is total pish not to mention the age, best to strip out the cowling around the clocks and take a look

I have just cured the same problem on my 205 GTi, like you i had no backlighting but did have battery light, oil light, indicator lights etc. Turned out the problem was caused by the printed circuit on the back of the clocks. Changed it for a different one and hey presto i now have dash lights again!

you have a switch to control your dashbordlight to make it shine more or less. If this one is broke or disconnect you also don't have dashbordlight.

Don't forget to replace the fuse and clean the terminals - not just remove and refit the original fuse like I did!!
