hi mate i have a 1600i engine in my caddy as turbo engine bloow up and set a light any way the head on mine is started to tap far to much so im trying to fine out wot to do next ie,new lifters solid,or hydrolic but not sure if i can put hyd in with a 1600i std cam any help on this would be great ps i know i can get a cam kit from burton engines but just dont have that sort of cash would i be abe to fit xr3 cam with hyd lifters insteed as iv seen a xr3i cam on ebay f

Yes, RSi ignition should also be fine with it

 

if the 1600i engine had been stood about for a few year before you put it in it could just need a good engine flush. i had this with a cvh engine. the flush sorted it as the tappets had dried to fook.. got all the crap out and it was fine.. I might be wrong but its gotta be cheaper an worth a try for the price of engine flush

 

rsi has ajustable tappets flush wont do any good

 

Why not just adjust the tappets to the right settings or am I totally missing something?
