I don't have a pic of the nuts on their own but this is what they look like fitted to my wheel. You will know if it's a GPA nut as it will have a sleeved end.

Found a pic of Grp A wheel nuts online and my wheel nuts just look like normal wheel nuts.

Also my inserts appear to have had a chamfer in the inserts machined in to match the wheel nut angles:

Can you still get inserts and grp A nuts? and what advantage would it have?? I dont see much point in fixing something unless its broke as the wheel seats properly now, but i want to refurb wheels soon so i might as well get new inserts and obviously nuts to match the inserts so the wheel seats properly, unless you can get inserts set up for normal wheel nuts??

dont bother mate, no real advantage tbh, the only reason they did it on the group a cars is because they occasionally sheared wheel studs !

id just get them referbed

thats not strictly true , the wheel above is a GpA wheel with a steel tube insert, like Jimbos Dads car above , the wheel nuts in this photo are convertor nuts so you can use these wheels on regular studs, proper GpA wheel nuts are only a small nut ( as per Jimbos pic )the wheel is located by the shoulder and the nut holds it on , these come in many sizes and materials and are a M14 thread in 2 pitches , you cant confuse these for regular nuts .

You shouldn't be , people liberally spread the GpA term around to make the bits seem more important when they just have slightly different fitments , thats all . If you have a shallow insert with a 60 degree taper then you have roadcar wheels , if you have a steel tube insert that takes a "tube "type nut then its a Gpa wheel , simple .

basically

you can use group a wheels on a standard hub by using the "group a" convertor nuts,

its a nut with a sleeve, the sleeve goes through the larger hole of the insert in the group a wheel and tightens to the standard stud

i 'think' your is a standard fitment wheel so you would only be using a normal wheel nut !

so, as above, you dont need group anything so get on with it

no tbh, you need to measure the inside diameter of the hole for the stud then we can tell you exactly what you have

with a group a wheel with insert using a std nut they don't tighten up far enough and would be dangerous to use. the group a conversion ones i got had a longer threaded sleeve so it could tighten up correctly. the ones i got fitted correctly but you would expect them to as EARS sold their own special made for themselves RL's.

Hi!
I need your help.
Please give an advice how to fit WRC cromodora wheel proper.
Here you can see the drawing of the wheel with std stud.
Is it good and safe solution to use group A convertion nuts in my case?
Because I don't know the lenght of sleeve of such convertion nuts, so, I doubt is this will be suitable for std studs.

Thanks!

Old thread but exactly the people i the know.

One of my EARS rims has a shamfer in the inserts as Warran shows above, i didn't notice this before they went for referb and i only noticed when the fitting as the wheel nut doesn't go on as far as the other 3 - as its angled for a wheel nut is this going to be fine or should i remove the insert and run with 4 Grp4 nuts i have here

Sorry basically the issue is the nut doesn't appear to sit in as deep as your normal wheel as if the angle is correct it's not deep enough, is this going to cause an issue or the fact it's pinching it still enough to hold the wheel tight, it's the rear wheel so really want it on good.

You'll need the longest studs at the very least, please dont use Alloy wheel nuts, theyre very prone to stripping threads .
