Default Grey relay in 2wd saph pass footwell?

I was under the impression that this relay was for the heated windows or whatever, but today when i started the car it was making a crackling noise.... it stopped after a few seconds but everytime i revved the car it crackled again. Loose connection somewhere What does this relay do????

the only thing I can think of that is engine rev related is the blue wire on the alternator that feeds this timer relay - check the blue wire on the back of the alternator is tight

Ah you are correct, the wire is loose, you don't happen to know what rating the relay should be do you, it's been replaced with the wrong one at some point and someone has just cut the extra pin off the relay so it fits in the holder....

It's a timer relay, so you can't use a normal relay, unless you are prepared to do a bit of rewiring on both the heated front screen relays.

Aye tell me about it, don't suppose any of you have a link o what the correct relay should look like? As i stated already it's not got the right relay in the holder, and when i bought the car it had some relays lying in the glovebox, it may be one of those but i'm not sure.
