Default Rear Brake Calipers

Hi everyone,

This is the first time I've posted on this side and I have a question to ask I'm looking to do a rear brake disc conversion on my rs turbo and basically I know some one who is selling a pair of brand new genuine old stock 4x4 vented rear callipers in gold which I believe that is the standard colour from when they left the factory will the gold colour fade or flake off after a few years or will they last for years to come?

There is a company called torque engineering selling genuine ford rear calipers at 119.00 per pair ... I have just bought some and they even come in ford boxes ... Yes they are gold in colour ,,, but this is just like a passive zinc coating which will rust in time ... I am having mine painted gold ...

Hi mate your right that's where I've seen them do you know roughly how long the zinc coating will last or do you think I should paint them first before I fit them?

Depends under what coditions ... If it s used daily ,,,salt etc .... Its the same coating bolts are done in ... So it wont be long before it starts getting tarnished and rusty .... Like i say i aint fitted mine yet and im having them painted ,, as a new surface is better to paint on than a rusty one ......... Regards mark
