speedo gear?

Default speedo gear?

My speedometer died first thing change the cable did that old one was seized fort that solved the prob but it turns out the speedo gear might have been damaged went to change that but the roll pin is stuck inside how on earth can i remove this pin without removing the gearbox? in the haynes manual it says remove using pliers but its impossible to get to and drilling is out of the question from lack of room its really awkward. anyone encounted this prob? any ideas greatly appreciated

Have this problem to this day on focus' , one way is to try and use a pair of side cutters to "grip" the roll pin not cut it then use the leverage that these give to pull the pin out by using the tip of the pliers to pivot around, I have seen people screw a self tapper into the roll pin and pull it out using this , but saying that I have also seen the gearbox having to be removed to be able to get the pin out !!!!!!!

Good luck i was lucky that i had to take the gearbox out anyway, even then it didnt want to come out.
