Hey all I was just interested to know if I should trile fit my bonnet and bumper and lights before me and uncle dave weld it up.i've never done any body work before.cheers peeps
are you just doing the slam panel ie light sockets and top rail where bonnet catch goes or that and the bottom box section if your doing the bottom box section then if you aint done it before dont as the car needs togo in a jig to keep alinement or it will track all over the place but if just the top section then yes trial fit first to make sure and when just doing the top section its worth getting a 2mm disc to get between the wing and inner wing sections as the front panel is sandwhiched between them
i am only in custom house and dont mind poping around to give a bit of guideance

If your doing the front panel you may as well change the crossmember as well for the sake of another £40 panel. You will kick yourself if you end up having to replace it in a year or so!.
Ive been to 6 bodyshops local to me and not one said it would need to go on a jig to have it done.

the crossmember is a part of the front structure which has the rollbar attached to it and then the rad i/c ect ect with pre made holes for them if you was to replace the crossmember and have it say 5mm more one way than the other or when you start welding and the heat distortion crops up what you going todo when things dont line up as it will have to come off and be done again,
it can been done without a jig but in my reply to the post i have said
IF YOU AINT DONE IT BEFORE THEN DONT AS IT WILL HAVE TO GO IN A JIG
you probaly did not see that
a jig is a sure way off keeping things straight and true you will have referance points to line it all up
thats my advice but i am wrong it seems
