nice and heavy to keep me planted to the floor

it's my backup track car

as my r888's and front brake pads will fit on the 306 so ideal if the 205 breaks

i just didnt click with the clio certainly didnt rock my boat

i have only drivent eh 306 100 odd miles and find it much better, rev's much better, just prefer it

this one does have a set of cams and a remp to around 190bhp, so probably does go better than my clio anyhow

I thought they had a terrible gearshift making it very hard to shift quickly? Or can you buy a replacement kit which improves it? Besides from that I've heard they are pretty good on track.

Yeh makes it slower than the same car with a 5 speeder.

Spiky - turning right on track wont be a problem. I just feel like its wasted on that car. They have no need for 6 gears, and have a much better spread over 5

The 206 quickshift kit fits the 306 gti and is currently on offer on the compbrake website at Ł30 plus vat

how dose that work then, have you drove one with a 5 speed and a 6 speed?

Yes. And with about half a dozen other peugeot boxes, or combinations of gearsets.

It works as it spreads the same gearing over 5 gearchanges instead of 4.
The GTi6 box was, and still is a gimmick. The car never needed 6 gears, and is consistently slower and more difficult to drive with the 6 speeder fitted.

Just for clarity - top speed is about equal
- acceleration is quicker with 5 speeder
and lap times are quicker with 5 speeder

Well i got a XSi which is the same as a gti6 but with different cam's and i fucked my 5 speed box so i put a 6 box in it and it drives so much nicer and it is alot quicker gettin to 100 and over 100 so i dont see how you justify that, but anyway, its a lovely day

Surely the 6 speed would have shorter gears, so in theory should accelerate quicker?

shorter gears covering the same ratio. So you need an extra gear change to accelerate at the same rate. so its slower. look up xsara vts and gti 6 stats. same engine, different box.

different inlet manifold, exhaust manifold, compression ratio, pistons, cams, ecu.

And its only quicker to 100 in your head

i can dig out the ratios and use science to prove its not quicker to 100, but only when i'm at work 2mrw coz i cant be arsed on my own time

the thing is with higher ratio boxes is they allow the engine to pull,

ive recently changed the ratios in my box for a longer overall gearing and off the mark its not as quick but when your changing into second on the old one the new box is still pulling hard, and its the same all the way up,

also the time taken for an extra gearchange hinders the 6 speed,

just what i think ive never driven a peugeot lol

I bought one of these aswell a couple of weeks back

Goes and handles well alright, and sound the tits with the full exhaust and massive induction kit mine has. Reminds me of the noise Golf VR6's make with an induction kit, a proper roar.

Probably going to get rid of mine soon as miss RWD and turbo power now ive had a few 200sx's.

this is my day to day car, that i "could" use as a track car

i took the exhaust off as it was a little louder than i wanted so it's quiet now,

though the engine noise is quite nice on these, so never going to be a quiet car
