Default How much would you pay for a good 3 door???

Getting totally pissed off with cossie ownership lately, and THE only reason i haven't sold up is i don't really like anything else that fits into that catagory. So I'm thinking i'll maybe try another model and see if that relights my enthusiasm.
I was going to look at an escort at the weekend but it's now sold, and i've been thinking "3DR" for a while, BUT i have a few things holding me back which i need to clear up before i make a decision.
Basically i have a really good silver 4x4 that i've spend an arm and a leg on, as well as lots of time, and the car has had everything done on it recently so it's maybe not worth £££ but to get a comparable condition 3 dr what would i be looking at????
I'm talking new engine/repainted floor, all areoquipped, basically all the mechanical stripped off and replaced so i wouldn't have to do anything to the car. I see plenty of crap for sale at what seems like BIG money but they all have issues of some description.
Also I was thinking of just getting rid of all my cars and buying one expensive one (RS4 etc..) but i like being able to do my own maintenance and bits and pieces on a car, not just polish it all the time.

for that level of good you're talking £11k upwards IMO
the standard moonstone one for sale on here looks stunning to me though! gorgeous car.

I would say £8k for a nice one (but jaysport just sold his - for I would presume around £7k - so maybe less)

8-9k for a very very nice std one

it all dependes on the market at a given time.

but remember its still a cosworth - so still going to be mucho £££ to maintain and modify unless you buy a concours one.

I am always tempted when I see good ones for sale - but after selling a mint one for £7k 2 years ago and realising I would have to pay nearer 9-10k for a similar one now I personally am resisting as for the money you can get more modern and better cars hence I'm looking for a E39 M5.

they are iconic and I love them - I just dont love the prices they are commanding.

Might be better to start with a low mile standard example then just add your own touch to it

Good idea. So long as the seller pulls his finger out and gets the car back on the road

Weird thing is i'm a bit fed up of mine at the mo and i'm not sure why. Part of me says come whack the suspension back on and make me an offer

Perhaps you should look beyond Ford mate. Does it have to be a cosworth, perhaps we can think of another car that would interest you

I have though, thats the problem!
I haven't really ever wanted anything else, and it would defo have to be turbo.

Chop, surely you wouldn' sell it already, you've only had it 5 mins!
Toughy, i'd love that car, if you have a price in mind (which i'm sure you do) drop me a PM and i'll have a think about it.

11-12k for what your talking IMHO. Unless your lucky 8k wont get you one that you wont have anything to do to it.

I,ve just bought a MINT 33k miles one for inbetween 11-12k....

Be VERY VERY careful buying one for anywhere around 8k mark imo, ok you might drop on a clean example by chance if the seller wants a quick sale etc, BUT there,s alot of rats out-there now too.

As Martin AKA Bud-Weis as said, the Moonstone example looks a lovely car....

Yes i think your right, either a hit or a miss with an 8 k car as realisticly i don't think i could get a good one for 8k unless i'm lucky. Just saw this baby on PH, i think something like this would be right up my street.

As people are talking about prices, im going to sell mine shortly as i have just bought my first house and it has to go

What would it be worth, 60500 miles, body work is in good coniditon, could do with maybe the front bumper painted as its stone chipped, i had the boot and spoiler painted recently as the paint wore where the spoiler attachs, had a full engine rebuilt 2000 miles ago using all genuine cosworth parts from cosworth. Just put koni's. bajhoo springs, stage 3 (dark greens, chip, actuator etc) 6 paddle ap clutch less than 500 miles ago.

This is not a for sale post.

You at it again with the anti Black jibes!

Yeah the moonstone one on here looks the tits, standard looks rock, but standard power is gayer than Barrymore @ a gay convention!

Thing is you will always spunk cash over all RS marques, and anything else that puts the same sort of smile on your face. Thats half the fun,tho it dont seem that way most of the time.
Keep with it mate.

Yeah Chop your right, moonstone is best and must be modded. Never seen yours on the road tho!!

Black is stunning when its clean but it never stays that way long enough. Even when it aint moved.

Found some old pics of my moonstone 3 door and saff, kinda makes me wish I'd held out for the BEST colour.

Yeah, needed to be a bit more stealthy! Walls have ears yeno!

i know chops, makes me so mad, when there are genuine people out there like me who have money and want to buy a nice 3dr but i damn right refuse to pay internet prices, no wonder the same cars are always for sale month after month people ¨think¨ thats what there worth because one person thought he would try his luck and whacking a stupid price on it, and then lemmings follow suit and do them same and think thats the ¨market value¨ dreamers

although now, i cant actually get a 3dr even if i wanted one, as my garage isnt big enough (just found out)

well i could get one and store it elsewhere but i dont really want to do that.

Have to agree Ryan, but i still think there,s PLENTY of snotters @ the 10k level so you have to be VERY selective indeed....

In its defence I did around 25k miles in the first year of ownership though, using it as my daily driver.
