Default peoples opinions to achieve 400bhp

hi, its been a while since i was on here and no doubt things have changed massively in the tuning world... but what im after is peoples advice on how to achieve the above hp... now i know a lot of people used to go down the greys and t34 route but that seems a little dated now???? please correct me if im wrong i want to keep transmission out of this thread as its not about that... all i want is YOUR opinion... and beforte anyone says talk to your tuner, yes i could do that but i prefer reading what you lot think first...

car in question is saff 4wd and the reason why i want 400bhp is in my opinion its a good useable road car...
thanks in advance gaz.......

I asked a very similar question some time ago. I got a lot of good replies in this thread:

3071 conversion would be a good way to go about it i reckon.
Search in the resto for cossieRich's thread, think its pretty much covered in there.

t4 greys worked for me.

better injectors out now Gareth, Siemens or blacks as they are know, different flow rates for certain power.

T4, blacks is how mine is, will be getting a live map when funds allow (and the wife and five kids) and should be seeing the + side of 400.

my personal proved approach is T35 .63, (NO LOW COMP SHIT!) greys/light blues, big cooler and a good mapper. No more needed and if you dont go sLOW comp then you have shitloads of low down driveability

if you got the head of then get it ported, best thing you can do to a cossie motor is get rid of the lip in the throats just before the valves but any good specialist will already know this, not going huge ports retains torque and makes for so much fun!

mines on 19psi at 2600rpm full boost with a T3 and massive PRO cooler with 80mm inlet/outlets and the thing is absolutly mental even on yellows and stage 1 chip (was running in lol)

good head is the was forward, belive me i recived it

oh and as for "blacks" mine was on 865cc things and i hated them, was mapped twice and binned them for 1000cc walbro items as i just didnt like the siemens ones..... never seemed right midrange etc
