It's apparently ready to ship, they're just sticking to the end of the year launch so they can fine tune it until then, but the game is actually finished. It'll come on two BluRays and one of those will install to hard drive to save disc swapping. Also got the WRC licence along with vehicle damage.

Looking forward to seeing what it can do and what changes have been made from the prologue version(think thats how you spell it)
and the new cars that will have been introduced

GT started a revolution in racing games IMO and remember towards the end of school when I was the only one to have it having got a USA copy a month before it came out in the days when chipping was a lot rarer. Was one of the best games I've ever played and was stunned when I first switched it on with its realistic car graphics, garage and tuning ideas. The sequels were also good and I'm sure this one will be too but times have changed and its no longer that special anymore, so many good racing games out there now and now being an XBOX owner I have to say the GT5 talk bores me to death, gone on way too long, its just one game.
Back then its was so much more advanced than Need for speed, F1 and the like but now its just another racing game. Will still have to take a peak though but certainly won't be buying a PS3 just for it. Still I'll never forget my shitty Honda prelude I started with on the first one and tuned up, thought it was the bollocks, going round all the top tracks blasting out the TV and Fat of the land out the Hifi, then my old man comes home early at 2:30pm and I'm in my tracky bottoms playing it. Ooops.

Forza 2 has already set the bench mark for any console racing sims..... And with the up and coming release of Forza 3 in october, I can't see GT5 making as big an impact as GT4 did all those years back imo.
I'll probably still buy it though

The GT game physics are absolute horse shit and if the franchise thinks that awesome graphics make for a good "real simulator" (my arse) they are very much delluded. Games like Forza leave the current GT franchise for dead.
Unless you are a 2yr old, most people need something a tad more realistic.
Why, because it has pretty graphics?!?!? I used to think this way, but I have seen the light.

Ad4m_RST,
Unless they have TOTALLY changed the original games physics, then I doubt it. But if you are stating that this is fact.....
Stu.H / Stoo,
I don't think so... I own two 360's and two PS3's, so hardly a fanboy of either over another!

GT5 will be amazing and all you shit box 360 will poo poo it, but it will be the bollox and you know it.
I have not known a GT game not to push limits and this will be no differant.
PS I don't have a PS3, but once this comes out I will

JohnnyB,
GT Prologue was an utter pile of horse shit, once you get over the very nice graphics. That did the PS3 more harm than good...... and Sony know it. Us PS3 owners have been raped beyond belief, so it is about time we get something that lives up to all the Sony hype.

I am positive it will Fagin, they have had 2 years to get it right and if I am willing to make a PS3 purchase(call me mr tight arse) as I will not buy one with out a game I want you know I feel it will be good.

Eh?!? I got GT Prologue on release and I am still playing online stuff today, even got me the F1 car too, I have quite a few other PS3 games and I dont ever go back to them. What reason was it rubbish? Sure won't live up to the full game when it comes out, but we didn't have to pay full game price for it did we??
Plus they keep adding stuff, like the Citroen GT, the Lotus Europa.
I demand you back up your claim with a reason
so ,, apart from prologue's dog shit online play(identicle vehicles overtaking each other on the straights and being slammed into barriers for no good reason) , unrealistic vehicle performance (clio vs 500bhp skyline and clio takes it on the straight) and the hatefull way it regularly has "download errors" when trying to update ! its a great game

if your the sort of person that gets their jolly's playing games with nice graphics, on thier own with no online interaction then its deffo a good game , if on the other hand you like to have a bit of banter and interaction with other real people whilst maintaining a realistic feel then forget it .
Hopefully gt5 will be a completely different kettle of fish and spark a bit of interest in online racing games again

Ok I'll give in on the online barrier ramming bit, but you only get that on the beginner and intermediate races because the people you play against are... Well, rubbish. In the expert races you rarely get slammed off the track.
If your 500bhp skyline is being whooped by a clio, I'd suggest sorting out your settings! took me days to figure out a decent set up for a s2000, it soo isn't a plug and play game, but get the right settings a cappachino will keep up with a Ferrari.
Also with the download errors, that was sorted months ago.

MadMac,
Watching Fast and Furious is more true to life than GT Prologue is to actually driving a car. Remember this is supposed to be a driving sim, suppose it is OK if you are looking for something that resembles a dodgem car!
Trouble is I suspect (regardless of what others have been told or think) that GT5 will be more of the same. This is simply because the more realistic it is, the harder it is. GT5 will be a mass market game, which needs to appeal to all and sundry.
Try something like Live for Speed on the PC with a G25 Steering Wheel, clutch and H Shift manual gearbox. Then tell me how realistic GT is!
