Default worn gear syncros? how come?

ive had my works van for about 10 months now and put on about 42k miles bringing the total to 76k odd. its a citroen dispatch hdi

now, today while driving it was fine. until i changed into 4th on journy, and ever since it now grinds when going into 4th even at idle...

so what would cause that to go all of a sudden?

im quite good at changing gear with no clutch, very rarely did it grind in any gear, but today i was using the clutch lol

just after some info really on why they suddenly go. still goes into gear etc ok.

rang work to tell them, and it seems that most dispatches around that milage have syncro issues, so i was told.

i'm gonna type this quick as the pain still hurts.....

bought a 04 berlingo 1.9 d (i love the old 1.9 as the donkeys are faithfull)
get it out the auctions and its snicking in and out of 4th and 3rd,only done 50k miles with proper citreon main agent history.

decided to get a box and found theres loads of them, anyway took it to a mate who has a scrapyard and supplies and fits and picked it back up with a great box but on the way home the fookin management light comes on and its driving shit.
to cut a very long story short i had another mate who spanners sort it and it took allsorts like chipping the pump, messing about with the injectors, swapping the pump, cleaning the tank and then 3 weeks later we found out what was the problem.
the box was the wrong one and the crank sensor was in the wrong position so it was running funny every now and then. the solution was after they made the sensor move to a better position was either stick the correct box in or live with a slight diesel knock. it ended up driving mint again but fook me the french can piss about with stuff.

well, i didnt buy it, its what i was given lol

had various problems with my old one, that had around 90k i think. the gearbox was fucked, and it cut out once and the aa guy couldnt get it going. citroen replaced the cps and various other sensors and got it running.

then it went in for a service and was going to cost £800+ to sort the gearbox, so my work scrapped it
