Default Sapphire cooling fan relay

Hi,

Sitting in traffic at Santa Pod for Classic Ford it became apparent the fans weren't cutting in on my 2wd Sapphire Cosworth. No real problem and car didn't get overly hot.

Now back at base and have tested fan switch and system to arrive at conclusion that I have a power supply problem due to the cooling fan relay.

Where is it ????

Original owners manuals that I have for both 3-door and Sapphire don't even mention a relay, however Haynes manual wiring diagrams clearly show one (but don't mention it either)

Somewhere, there is a relay that serves the cooling fan circuit and it is not in the obvious fuse/relay box under the bonnet. Does anyone know where this relay is ?

Thanks.

It's in the fusebox, by the wiper motor, if you lift the lid the one that is smoking and melting is the guilty suspect, the fuse for this also melts it's holder in the same fusebox.
They really are very crap.
Most sensible/safest solution is just discard oe wiring for fan, and make yourself a new mini loom/relay for the fans, the ford stuff is worse than crap.

As above, fans relays are responsible for a lot melted fuse boxes...
