since i had an alarm fitted last year my battery hasnt lasted 2 days without being used,when i go to start the car it needs a jump start.i removed all the fuses and the only 1 that sparked with the ignition off was fuse 13,its the fuse for heated seats and the fag lighter.both of which i dont need.should this spark with the ignition off when i re-insert the fuse?what else is powered through this fuse?i have been assured its not the alarm(ai606).ta,lee

 

Do you have any extras on the alarm ?, if so these consume but 2 days is not right at all.
I have same alarm and can leave 3 weeks no problem, a bit sluggish but starts.
The easy way to tell if ther eis anything else on that fuse is just leave it out and see what doesn't work, certainly without being switched on the ciggy lighter and seats should not consume anything, but if the seat has a dicky switch/relay they consume a hell of a lot over 48 hours, easily enough to flatten the battery.
The alternator could also be flattening the battery even if charging 100% ok, again just disconnect main charge wire(insulate well as direct to battery) to rule it out over the two days.
Is the batt defo ok ?

my boot light was staying on and drained my battery, worth a check

 

ok,i dont have the heated seats in mine.i bought a brand new big bosch battery last year as i thought the old battery was a dud,but that didnt cure it.the alarm has a glass break sensor and a tilt sensor,i think the glass sensor was the only extra.the alternator was making a funny clicking noise last night but i thought it may be because i sprayed wd40 in that area as the belts were making a bit of a noise.its only just been fired up for the 1st time in about 5 months after an underside resto so i was expecting a few gremlins.i removed the bulb from the boot light a while back to rule that out.

 

If the belts are noisy, don't put anything like wd40 anywhere near, use talcum powder on the pulleys, this will clean off the sheen on the inner edges of the pulleys, as it is slightly abrasive.

thats a good idea,if its good enough for a babys bum its good enough for my belts!i have kept out the fuse so ill see how long it lasts without the alarm armed then ill try it with the alarm armed.
