Default *saff cosworth 4wd resto*small update 29/4/10

some of you may know i started this resto around 5 years ago now but do to moving away and a few house changes the car was at the bottom of a very long list.... all the pictures i had of it before are unfortunately lost now which is a shame but thats life... ill update as i can but here is how she stands now... not bad considering she has been sat in a cold garage for 5 years.... ive been doing a few little bits on the car at weekends as you can see but i hope to see a lot more progress in the next few months

thanks gaz

suppose i had better do a little update then well its been a busy year since i last did out with the car, been fitting kitchens, finishing the house off, getting married!! and all sorts of things so the car really has been put on the back burner for a long while..

but there has been a bit of progress in the last couple of weeks and i really really want her finished for the end of this year so fingers crossed..

The new pictures arent the best as they were took on my phone, but im sure u get the idea... engine will be going back in on the 16th which is a relief, and then its just a matter of connecting most stuff back up and having a large bank balance..
ive tried to buy most things new where needed, and recon'd some things, but all ive set out to achieve 5 years ago is a clean car, nothing else.. definately no bufty show thing.. and when it is done im about 65% sure it will be being sold
but well see

anyway a few pictures me thinks.. ill try to keep this updated the best i can but i dont get that much time to work on it

cheers gaz

engine before

engine half way through, excuse pulleys these will be being changed

rocker cover is away at the moment for machining and the engine is almost complete now so ill take another picture when its complete

piccy of inlet manifold, had this powder coated but it had to be done twice, reason being first with the base colour then i had a metalic put into it, sure youll understand
looks really classy in person

i also had the cradle done in this colour as well, with new reyland engine mounts

steering rack cleaned up after about 2 hours work, my god this thing was shitty, never seen out like it, it was absolutely baked in crap

bit of paint later

and a bit more

and finally back on the cradle

think that will do for tonight, just waiting on bits to arrive now but ill update soon as i can..

oh yeah and ign bracket and map sensor bracket painted up also

got to fit new power steering tank in car plus lots of other little bits.. but its getting there............ slowly

bring on the digs from tiff and davecos4x4

the engine was took apart. new wrc gasket, new head bolts,, pretty much every new sensor u can get including new iscv.. 4wd manifold back on instead of 2wd.. turbo is a t34.55 but u will see all this when i get the cover back and bolt it down then i will take final pics.. alt brackets all powder coated as well.. pretty much a new engine

car looks a bit different to how it looks on this pic, i must take some newer ones

got new tanks as well, full boost, water and ancillary hoses as well.. all new fuel lines, clips, u name it ive aquired it .. u dont realise just how much u will have to shell out on a resto till u start, believe me its frightening ...
