Default Anyone Anygood With Iphone's ? Help !!

Okay,

I jus got an Iphone 1st gen, bought it from a friend who got it unlocked (Vodaphone) & Jailbroken by his company. He bought the phone brandnew.

He's kindly given it to me, I'm on o2 & the actual phone works pukka, camera etc.

My problem is it wont connect with any PC (Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 3) or MAC. When the USB cable is connected (my Ipod cable, as the cable he gave me is simply a charger) it comes up with "USB device not recognized". In Device Manager it shows "Unknown Device" with no drivers, I've tried installing the usbaal thingy driver but still no work, the driver wizard wont let me select the file !!

I've tried startin & stoppin the Apple Mobile Device thingy & nothin. Searched the net for hours lookin for a solution, I jus wanna get the Ipod on the phone connected to me Itunes so I can give my Ipod to my little girl !!

Has anyone got any ideas ? Could the USB cable I got be incompatable ? as its a 1st Gen phone ? Or is there something I can do ? I've tried restorin the phone, DFU mode & restting it, uninstalled itunes etc, I'm sure the USB ports are version 2 & tried the ports on the back of the pc.

Please, someone help ? It's doin my sweed in !!

Thanks in advance !!

jb

It disapears from Device Manager, as the phones "asleep", then if you do something wit the phone, it appears again as unknown device !!

No idea about PCs but it should 'see' it as soon as it goes into the Mac, although it won't appear on the desktop it should appear as a little icon in the menu on the top left of the iTunes window.

If not go to 'About this Mac' in the Apple drop down menu (top left), then 'more info', then see if USB appears, if so click on it and see if it knows it's an iPod/Phone. If not see if you can borrow someone else's cable and see if yours is dodgy.
