Dont know if it is me like but do you get hacked of when you park up or at the petrol staion and every man and his dog says. "I used to have one of those". Cause the other day my car broke down right slap bang in the middle of town and every man who helped me push the car out the way was saying it. It boils my blood cause you dont know weather or not to believe them cause if you say to them "Thats bollocks" you get a right mouth full back probably.

The thing I get a lot of is when my car is in the paddock at the track and the bonnet is up, everyone seems to have an opinion on what needs changing. "Is that a 4WD manifold mate?" "no, two wheel drive." "You should get a 4WD mate." "why?" "Better innit." etc etc. "what turbo's that?" "T3" "you should get a T4". "the regulations don't allow it." "my mate had one wiv a T4 on it." "that's nice."

And you're right, if the public didn't own one themselves, their mate did. Having said that, it's nice that people are interested.

Ive only got a S2 but evert time i take it out someone wants to stop me for half an hour to ask ho fast it is etc and how they use to have one that was the fastest in the country, or how much do i wanna sell it for. Its nice sometimes but really pisses me off at others

 

i used to have an old 2002 bmw a 72 touring with an e30 m3 lump in it, and people used to stop me and say i used to have one of those! which is nice but then it carried on to... you should put it back standard i would! well in that case go a fookin buy one then an do that!!!! that used to piss me right off!

I'm with you on that one, i don't mind GENUINE enthusiasts, BUT you always get them quoting "I used to have one of them", and you're like "oh really...blah blah blah" then they start talking shite and you find out after 5 mins it was a 1.8LX. Just like saying i used to own a 6R4, but it was infact a Austin Metro 01.L in brown, if i owned a 518i BMW i wouldn't go upto an M5 owner and say i used to have one if i didn't.

i just sold a tidy a reg orion ghia,you couldnt take it anywhere without someone asking to buy it or saying 'you dont see them anymore'.its nice but when you just want Ł10 of petrol and some milk it annoys you.i have spoke to plenty of knobs who when you tell them what you have in the garage used to have a 500 bhp 1 of them,1 guy said he had a 500,he had it painted brooklands green,put capri pepperpots on it then the timing chain snapped,i said was it a proper cosworth,his reply yeah,the 1 with 2 spoilers on the back/yeah,the xr4i cosworth.twats,the lot of them.

 

I like the quick comments like, Dont see many of them, or thats smart etc. But its when they want to have a full blown conversation and all you wanna do is pay for the dam petrol!! lol

 

worse though. when my car broke down the other day and the aa man parked up behind me, he was walking to the front asking is it a real one until he saw the engine, and went um, very nice. i used to have a 500 brake r34 skyline. here we go again. i though even though it wasnt a cossie.

 

it doesnt bother me in the slightest, i have all sorts coming upto me asking about mine, ive even had a 60 ish year old business suited guy in a new m5 come up to me on a garage forecourt and ask me if this was the cosworth one he'd heard about. i get the boy racers having a go but its always good natured just wanting to see me blast it away rather than expecting a real race.
if it bothered me that much id buy something less interesting.

I was filling up the other week an a geezer comes over asking if it was a real one, I said yes it was, starting asking what I'd done to it, how much it cost etc.

Then he said 'Good motors these old XR4x4's'!!!!

I said 'It's a Cosworth, not an XR4x4'.

He replied 'Thats a shame. Sell that and get an XR4x4, thats the proper one'!!!!

He then went on to say that he had one from new and raced a Ferrari on the way home! 'Just disappeared in my mirrors mate!!'

I dont think the Ferrari was even running!!!!

Ive had that a few times and tried to explain where a RS500 came from the 3 dr oh and its not called a RS500 because its 500 bhp . Makes me laugh but they listen and say " i never knew that " .

Oh and smooth peanut butter on black unpainted trim works , smear it on with a cloth then wipe it all off and it will become shiny , something to do with the peanut oil . Just dont blame me if a dog starts licking and chewing your bumper .

1.i passed my test in one of these.
2.this was my first car
3.my dad had one of these
4.my grandad had one of these and so on, ive herd all these 10 times over..dont really bother me tho-never had nothing in my sapp tho....
