Default Cosworth Turbo Removal

Gonna sound like a real 'tard here but I have been up till now a full on cheque book mechanic.

I need to take the turbo off, is the right order down pipe, damper, then turbo off manifold? To my admittedly simple mind it looks vey straightforward - is there anything I need to be aware of?

1) take down pipe off
2) remove actuator rod in case you twat it with a spanner
3) remove feeds
4) lose your arse removing turbo off manifold

Right after loads of swearing etc the fucker is off, except the bastard oil feed to the top. I just can't undo it without the pipe twisting itself.

How much will one cost if I just cut the fucker off. I've fucking had it with that pipe?

Edit - wish I'd read the quote first!!

about Ł20 iirc

to be fair it should be that tight, pair of big grips should do it and get something to hold the pipe to stop it from twisting

I just can't get any purchase on it now its off the fannymould and I'd rather have a train run on me by all of the YMCA than bolt it back on again.

Where do I undo - where it bolts into the metal bit that bolts to the turbo, or try to undo the whole metal bit - its like an aero type fitting.

There's a good reason I'm an office monkey - I fucking hate working on cards.

stop being a big girl!

the actual nut that fits to the turbo is what you want to be getting on; the pipe itself will continously turn round and round if you like, dont be scared to give it a bit of welly

you are trying to undo it the right way arent you?

Lefty loosy?

I'm giving it one more go, if not I'm cutting the fucker off.

I started this at 7:45 thinking I'd easily be finished in time to watch ashes to ashes, and I've missed that too.

Anyone wanna employ the world's worst mechanic?

jesus man, its 10.40!

thank fuck for sky plus

seriouly tho; if you cut the pipe, you've still got to get the nut off the turbo. I wouldnt fancy trying to cut that off, you'll probably damage the threads.....plus you'll be there until next year

if i was coser i'd do it for you, try a bit of heat if you have some

Yep, I have big fat hands and I am a shit mech.

I need this turbo off so I can get a new one on exchange. I will just feel like such a loser towing it to a garage to get them to take off the oil feed pipe to the turbo.

I've given up tonight I'm getting so frustrated, but have given it a liberal dose of WD40 which will hopefully make it easier tomorrow.

Its not likely to crack the exh man if the turbo rests on it tonight is it? I've taken off the damper etc, so its just sitting on it.
