Default Close to hitting the magical 200bhp!

Hello!

An engine I built for a race car in the 750MC series was on the rollers on friday being mapped at Track n Road.

It's a 1.6 Fiesta/Focus engine and it's in a Sylva Pheonix which I think is about 500kg so not shy..

Anyway - was very proud when I heard what figures it had produced, spec below and a graph.

But 198.3bhp @ 8109rpm and 137lbs/ft @ 6172rpm

Spec:
Std rods shot peened, forged pistons, SS5 cams, ShawSpeed ported head retaining std valve size, 40mm Jenvey DTH TBs, 12:1 compression (kept low due to std rods).

Limiter is set at 8300rpm for the sake of the rods. Mine is same spec engine, except I'm on 42mm bodies, and have bigger exhaust valves, as well as forged rods, so will rev a bit more

P.S Very proud

Fair play Dan.

You sure have came along way in the couple of years i have known you, i remember when you barely knew your way around an engine bay, now your building top quality proven engines.

Quality.

Ha Ha cheers!

Not proven just yet - lol Think it's at Brands hatch next.

Doing some miles on it at a track day apparently at Brands, old engine was 170bhp+ and held the lap record with 750MC kit car at 0:53.41

Should be a little quicker now!

Apparently so! I think he did say there could be a little more work done on the ignition side of the mapping, but they ran out of time.

Not sure on finishing times but I think recently they're having to stop at 12ish because of complaints!

Well 00:36 that was printed so earlier than I have left there

I can't say I'm that suprised they have had complaints, some of the cars they run up are very loud !

Great figures though, I'd be dead pleased with that build

Yeah I guess they are always mega busy! Had loads of fiestas down there recently too.

Also - I think you're doing very very well to get near to 200bhp on Steve's rollers, which is even more pleasing, with them being so accurate.

Good stuff mate

It's a nice feeling when an engine you've built makes good numbers on the dyno - that evo engine i did last summer was specced for 450/450 and actually made 512bhp with 467lb/ft - gave me a buzz for the rest of the day

You have come a long way fella and i respect you for that

Thanks Will - appreciated. I found out friday night, and to be honest I was smashed anyway - but made sure I had another drink on myself once I'd heard the figures

Can't fault that for a atmo engine going in a 500kg car !

Totally agree about his rollers though, as accurate as flywheel figures can be it would seem
