Default Can an Escort Cosworth be used as a daily driver???OR maybe a 3 Door?????

I am due to be getting some money very shortly and i am looking to buy an Escort Cosworth.

I am not looking for a huge spec one were every component is pushed to within an inch of its life and could break at any point....lol.....as i will be looking to use it to drive to work every day...i travel about 25 miles in total so not major motorway miles.
It will be looked after and serviced well maintained, but it got me thinking when they were made surely Ford didnt say you cant really drive them everyday .

fuel wont be a problem before anyone asks as the Jag currently does about 9-10 mpg

Look forward to peoples response

When it works, yes it can!

Clive was my daily driver!.... ok i had the evo or the lotus or the skyline there too at various points, but i would always use Clive over any of them!

Like you say, if you stick to a reasonable powered one, no more that 300bhp and VERY well set up by the like of Stu, youll have a stunning daily driver!

Ł14k I'd say would be the ballpark figure to work on.

Obviously there's some out there for more, and some out there for less. But that would seem about "right" generally

I'd only have an Imperial Blue one by choice myself. By far the best colour for them. Really don't like them in Red or Auralis. Mallard and Petrol are both OK, I could live with them, but neither are really exciting. Black is good and you don't see tooooo many in black. White ain't for me personally, and Polaris Grey ones are really nice and very rare!

Dan, as soon as you see one, you'll just know whether you really want it or not!!!

It could be red, it could be green () or it might be Auralis Blue!!

Dont stick to particular colours, cos you might just fall in love with one you dont expect to!!!

I used Colas as a daily for a year or so - didnt have any probs with it other than general wear and tear - but it does require a lot more upkeep than your average car. You'll prob drive it hard at times (otherwise whats the point of having an escos?) and as such you will have to keep putting your hand in your pocket to keep it mint.

Cossies were made to be daily drivers, it's only theft that's the problem. EsCos and 3Door particularly do rather stand out.

Ooh get you. evo lotus or Skyline. Can't be bad. Only joking.
I guess if you're not travelling too far it can be used as a daily driver, I wouldn't use mine for that because my daily commute is 120 mile round trip.

its the same as any cossie,a well looked after one will be fine. but make sure you change the oil every 3k. my saff did loads of miles and was out everyday and used hard.no issues at all. the only downside is having to leave it any where..mines a garage toy though cos it can be

Mine is my daily drive at the moment, stage 3 and 340bhp, i do about 40 mile round trip for work everyday and have no problems. like everyone else has said take car of it and it should take care of you. take someone with you who knows the cars when you go to look for one because it can get expensive if they have any issues.

Good luck getting one mate.......and my vote is for imperial blue!! (obviously)

If you have money to throw away then why not?

I regularly see 2 on a morning zipping through the traffic...

That is the first sensible thing you have ever said on PF ...

I used mine as a daily driver for 8 months, was fantastic, don't listen to all the bollocks about small turbos being gay/slow etc, in the real world a good 300Bhp one will tear the arse out of a stg 3 BT version, as they just have so much punch everywhere. I would seriously suggest driving one back to back with a big T version, as a daily driver you cannot beat the small turbo IMHO, has everything

I used my 450bhp escort cossie as a daily driver for 12 years in all weathers.

Yes it drank fuel but otherwise was reliable if you exclude meltdowns on track days...LOL

Sold it 4 years ago and recently got another to replace my ST... Love them !
