i bought some second hand konis off here a while back, theyve been on the car for a few months. I noticed the drivers side was slightly bent at the bottom where the spring seats but thought nothing off it.
After driving it for a few months its started to play up, when i go full lock either way sometimes i get a bang as if the spring turning round, its also affects the tracking in some way and pulls badly to one side.
could this be caused by the the bent part on the shock, im confused and cant see whats happening

The spring seats are at an angle anyway.
The twang you hear is the spring uncoiling, thuis is due to the bearings in the top mount seizing, not uncommon at all, I think the last time I bough bearings it was about £8 each.
Say you turn to the right, the spring bottom moves due to being located in the strut body, but the top stays where it is, so the spring is now tensioned that way, so when the tension overcomes the sticky top bearing it twangs back.
You would do wel to have your tracking at least checked when you have done mods like this.

NO, there is a cup mount on top of the spring, then there is a bearing sandwiched between this and the next cup which butts up against the underside of the wing, it is this bearing which can cause what you have.
