Ford Escort MK4 1989 Project
Ford Escort MK4 1989 Project.
My story begins on 13th April 2009 when I bought my old MK4 Escort from ebay for only £50. Today (05 May 2009) after a long wait I'm expecting delivery of her. I aim to spend the next 2 years restoring and upgrading her. (Still not sure what engine I should put in yet, but theres pleanty to do before I can even consider an engine) There is some pretty bad rust at the rear end so that will need sorting first. Also the car wouldnt pass an M.O.T so I will also need to spend the next 3 or 4 weeks making it road legal.

Thanks everyone. I need some help. I'm new to the whole idea of restoring theese cars. Can anyone give me some advice on what I should do first. Should I get the bodywork sorted before I repair the mechanical problems. Also does anyone have any idea on what sort of engine I should put in her. All replys are appreciated.
all depends on how much u got to spend mate , if i was you i would build a zetec turbo and drop that in , i would strip it and get all the bodywork sorted first and then start building her . good luck !

dieselhead,
just get them from a scrappy, they are well easy to put in.
turbohead1, smart looking project you got there, good to see another 5 door.
do mechanical first, so if you happen by mistaketo damage the body whilst doing an engine conversion you can then still fix it when you sort the rest of the shell out

Does anyone want to buy her? Shes for sale. As at the moment I dont have the time to attend to her
But if I don't sell I'l get round to doing it eventually
