end of the day it's all mods as far as I'm concerned. Do what you want to make it go faster...

It's not like the 1.6cvh's are anything like how they left the showroom.

Tiff how could you say this, it would mean your fellow NMS trooper Ollie isn't and RS Turbo either, at least Dingy makes it to be anything with just the RS Turbo head just so it includes Ollie

IMO it goes on the head, as the head is ultimatley the limiting factor on a turbo mota anyhow.

CVH head, its a RST

If its a Zetec head, its a Zetec Turbo Escort/Fiesta (thats far faster than the CVH's )

Not really bothered what people call mine, its quicker than alot of real RS's!!

Who really gives two shits?

By blabbering on about 'Proper RST' this and '1.6 CVH' that just shows you are living in the dark ages! Zetec turbo's are over 20mph faster top end than any 1600cc CVH, so why waste money ending up with a slower car using outdated engine tehnology just so some sad faecetious gets in the owners club can argue their free time away about who holds the record!

If you don't want to spend mega money or want to keep the car original but fast then fair enough, but if you want fast qtrs or top speed records and ultimate power then Zetec turbo is the only sensible way to go!

RS1600i arnt real RS's either

TBH only reason i went for "As long as it has the head" is becuase on my GTR the head is the ONLY bit left thats off a GTR

Serious, the block isnt even a GTR block Its not even a Nissan block Its not even a Japanese block

So i had to say it

But in reality, WHO CARES.

You cant directly compare the cars tho, but wether its a real RS or not aint important.

To me whats more important is if it is just as quick on the road, as more and more cars these days are race fueled trailer queens...

Agree. I mean The car is what it left the factory as.
If it's RST on the log book, then it's Rsturbo.
The power plant is irrelevant, except to the owner.....
RST with a T34?
RST with a 2.1 zetec
RST with a cossy lump.........
Still is an RST IMO

its a funny thing to argue cause there is no definate answer, but if an rst has a zetec turbo fitted it would be sold as a rst with zetec turbo, however if a popular plus was fitted with a rst lump would that make it an rst if the engine was the thing that makes them an rst????????. Ipersonally went for a zvh because of the extra power and standard looks, i dont think my series 1 would look right with a zetec turbo imo

Says cvh on side of it...so it must be a zetec phil....amazing how people still don't understand that cause its a 1.9 don't mean its better, at top speed it means its worse than a 1.6 but then u lot really are genius's so you all ready knew about that

So if a 1.6 has had an over bore of .25 its no longer an rs turbo ?

Mine says "Escort RS"

So i can be an "escort RS - cosworth powered" or "ESCORT RS Cosworth"

Some mk 1 mexico's say 1600gt too so thats fucked that theory up n all

I cant be arse to argue this, again!!, but what else is it if it isn't a RST? It certainly isn't a Nova?? Lol!!!!!

.....Maybe it is a Mk3/4, RST body kitted, 4 pot turbo, 8 valve/16 valve Escort?! ........or a RST!

......what the problem likely is, is that some of you (mostly, more than likely Cossie owners?) who disagree about a RST having any 4 pot Ford engine are feelin threated by some of the monster RSTs been created with non-stock engines? ...just maybe

Well it goes by the shell to me because often car manufacturers use other manufacturer branded engines. If a Ford has a rover engine in it when it leaves the show room it's still a Ford.

Cossies are called Cossies purely because they have a 'Cosworth' Developed pinto in them! You can't really improve on that engine for the type of car, or else i'm sure you speed mad Cossie boys would do!!

I think 16v Zetecs and 1.9 CVH engines are EXACTLY in the spirit of the RS turbo, i.e. a four pot N/A granny wagon engine, specially work'ed for turbo application, but not specially developed by a factory type tuning company like Cosworth! I.E If a RST was produced today, what do you think Ford would stick in it? Take a look at the Focus RS for a clue

i don't see what the problem is? Surely Oli's 1.9 S1 is a RST? If it is not an RST, then what the hell is it Top car by the way!

I agree, if its an RS Turbo, it will always be an RS Turbo, regardless of engine.

However, there is a divide between CVH and all other IMO.

Regarding the Zetec comments above, other than a few (and I mean a few, only three or four spring to mind), how many Zetec's are there that have actually put down a decent Top Speed? OK, for sprint times they have it pretty well sorted, but the larger capacity makes for better torque.

There is a very long-winded discussion to be had on the subject, but its all been done before.

I consider MY competition to be CVH engined RST's. If I were to take the CVH engine out, I wouldn't waste my time putting a Zetec in, I would go for something completely different. Thats not a criticism of those that have done it by the way!! Its just MY OPINION!!
