tappets are 16.20 + vat each from cosworth, that's 305 quid but maybe that's the only way to be sure that they're genuine?

maybe a silly question but ive heard i think its Golf GTI (mk1 or 2 ) are the same as cossie ones? but cheeper?

Ł383.84 inc vat for the set. There a GC discount code. (15-20% discount to most
traaders)

I got a set for mine a few months back, there still sitting in a sealed plastic
tub full of mobile 1.

you have enough trouble with them tapping, you don't want ones that cheep as well.

some people use 24v granada one's. same size differant valve sizes.

If anything you will want to thin the oil not thicken it.

Cometic Rocker cover gasket is about Ł34, the standard Ford one is Ł30. But you can re-use the Cometic one

Doo is right, the Gen Ford ones are expensive (& I get employee discount!) but i've been told the cheaper ones are not as good.

As Gus said if they've got INA stamped on underside they are the same as standard ford fit
Got a set off E-Bay for Ł120,spot on,no probs
Do a search on here about cleaning lifters out,a few peeps done it with good results

i have a one that taps every now and then,as you say just when engine is cold and only lasts for about 20 seconds then goes normal
mind you it only does it when the car hasn't been driven for a month or so
but as you say,even then its fooking annoying

that aint your tappets though ginge,thats a fooked engine in the making

so im lucky to only have 20 secs from cold after being sat in the garage for 4 weeks then

mine slighty rattly little ends , but then u also have mobile 1 oil in it, when i but the "other" stuff in it then we will see

got some off ebay new for 51 pound, they are not genuine 'cos they're made by AJUSA not INA but they are silent so well happy. before i fittd them i measured them with the verniers seemed identical in every respect
