Zvh
Looking into a Zvh conversion for my RST. Do you need a Zetec gearbox or does the standard RST one fit the Zetec bottom end?
Any info most appreciated. Thanks.

Do you have to get different pistons or are the Zetec ones up for the job? Can anyone do me a shopping list for the conversion? I'm running EFI already.

this is where the money comes in to it. depends how much you want to spend
You can run on std pistons and head gasket but dont be shocked when it goes bang or you melt a piston. Blacktop would be best no more than 1bar
Or you can use a decomp plate. but again would not run more than 1bar
Or a good low cost option would be to get some early C20XE forged pistons and do a 2.1 can be done for about £200-300
Or buy proper forged pistons rods ect. £700+

The thing is if you are going to do a cheap job there is no point, you will have to limit the boost so you may have a bigger engine but not necessarily a more powerful one.

PEC do great deals on pistons and rods, go for a 2.0 coversion, pistons and rods come in at £800 i think for forged pistons and h-beam rods, the cr is pretty much 8:1 which is spot on, all you will have to do is blank off the relevant galleries/breathers as per the quantun link above instructs. Couple this with some new bearings and a check over the crank, minimal hone of the bores trying to keep within 2.0 tolerences and your pretty much there with a block capable of up to 20psi giving power in region of 200 - 250bhp depending on the rest of the engine.
Chris Wardness on here is the kid to talk too on these conversions as he has done many of them.
If you are using ofac/ofab I would ditch that as my old 2.1 leaned off very quiclky even with beiges
Hope this helps
