Default win XP SP2 issue- help required

ive just bought a new case, mb, cpu, memory, hdd etc, built them up. installed xp pro, updated to SP2 and im now fully firewalled and antivirus up,

one problem, whenever ive done this in the past, ive got to this point, then plugged my old HDD in, restarted and dragged all MY DOCUMENTS etc over from my old drive including favourites etc.

just tryed it now and even though the bios and windows recognises that there is a drive there, is says it has not been formatted!

so does anyone know if this is a SP2 problem which somehow stops you doing this,? my old drive was running XP pro the same but only under sp1.

any help appreciated guys .

yep, but the raw data now doesnt appear to be there, does SP1 encrypt the data somehow to a partivular machine so that you cant do this sort of thing?

What by its self?
Your new PC if it is a branded machine IE HP or Packard Hell it may not necasseraly be formatted as NTFS. Now FAT32 cannot read NTFS and this may be the case.

im gonna try fire up the old one and just 100% check it still fires on the old drive - i might have to set it up as a shared drive, and access it through a network lead joining the two, can this be done without a hub?
