ok so the other day my old starter packed up, went and got a new recon one fitted it went to start it and i get a high pitch screaming noise from it, still started thou.
took it back and got a replacement and it's doing the same and got told the first one was for 1990-1995 cvh and had a diffrent power output!
anyone else had this problem? or is it just me?

Sounds like the bendix is not releasing from the flywheel and is being overspun by the engine.

That is a very quick way to set the starter motor alight when the bearings overheat.

 

ive had this happen to, had to jump out and disconnect the battery as it wouldnt turn off!

 

no it doesn't over run it just makes a high screaming noise when cracked.

 

Sounds like fly wheel ring gear teeth are fucked to me.

 

the fly wheels fine took the bottom cover off today and had a look.
tryed everything i can think off but nothing
