Question Focus 1.6 brake upgrade, help please...

Hi, all. I have a 1.6 2003 Focus. Front disks and drums at the rear. I too have noticed the fade and less than brilliant brake performance, although I am very happy with the car overall.

From what I read so far, EBC pads seem to be the favorite choice, greenstuff low dust. I'll get the shoes too (I think they do them) if it is generally agreed that this is the best / most cost effective upgrade.

Can you confirm this? Also, anyone know if there is a kit for this upgrade available and where from?

Thanks

I would use ebc, just not the greenstuff, I have this on a 1.4 auto astra, and easily manage to fade it, though I do live on the brakes.
If you can in your pad get either reds or yellows, they are better by a mile, but if not and the only choice is greenstuff, I personally would use mintex 1155 instead.

oh okay, thanks for that. The EBC sales sites don't seem to offer the red or yellow option for my car. That said, if they did, the further question would be would I need to upgrade the discs to do the pads justice? Not only that, supposing I could find them, would these pads damage my OEM discs that are still okay?

I guess the same questions apply to the mintex 1155 pads. Will these have an adverse effect on the discs do you know?
