Fitted a new ford clutch to my brothers escort cossie today because it was juddering not slipping, when i removed the old clutch the flywheel had loads of blue hot spots on it so had it skimmed and fitted new ford clutch problem now is when it comes on boost it is slipping the car is not chipped the only other thing i changed at the same time was removed standard exhaust with cats for a magnex full system can anybody shed any light on why its slipping?

 

if its a standard car
then its a pumped clutch
if it bites fine off boost and just slips on boost
then i think the clutch is prob faulty

 

I have to say that I would look into 2 aspects , the first one is the flywheel resurface , was it done correctly ? The other is the clutch , I have had new clutches from ford that slip until they have had the first heat cycle through them , they have not had the final cure until this cycle gets put into them and so if driven gently for the first 100 miles then they do recover as the spinner hardens up and then can give the coefficient of friction that is required . Just my thoughts .

 

This is common with ford clutches as the are actually made by luk. My brother in law has the same problem with his 3 door. Harvey gibbs told me this and suggested an alcon clutch. Unless you can get hold of an original ford clutch.
