Default Escort Cosworth and 18" Rondells

Hi

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get 18" Rondells to fit on my Escort Cosworth with Koni shocks. Also does fitting 18's put the speedo out by much, if so how much?????

The rondells will go on with no mods at all
Not shure about the speedo issue tho ,, Wont be a lot out tho

all you need to do is mod the spring platforms with either the welder or a hammer.You need to put a flat spot on the bottom of the cup where the wheel fits so it can turn mine was welded but we modded my m8's with a hammer easy really... hope this helps....

spring cups are different on the later small turbo cars it should only be these cars that need the spring cup modifying

Konis now come with the modded spring cup std... so it depends on the age of the 1's you have

with my rondells with 245/40/18, when my speedo was showing 145 mph it was actually doing 155mph,that was with redlines datron timing gear i never thought i,d see a ford speedo reading slow

it all depends on what offset they are if there the et 25 offset you do have to mod if there et 18 they go straight on but what do i no

The tyre profile has something to do with it too, 225/35 bolt straight on 225/40 need koni shocks modded..... just done it to mine

You will find the speedo is more accurate with 18s on than it is with standard wheels.

Hi,

Thanks for the input, unfortunately my koni's were put on in 97 so it seems they will need modding. I take it this involves taking all four corners off , modding them and then refitting....why is nothing ever simple

it is simple bash with soft hammer on front konis where wheel catches

My own car Small Turbo, fitted Koni's and Rondell's with 225/40 tyres 4 years ago and had no problems. However a friend at the same time who fitted his with 235/40 tyres did have to mod his front Koni's.

I would try first and see what gap you have with the tyres you are going to use as in my experiance tyre profile did make a difference.
