Default skiers - wear a helmet

may not look cool, but the most minor of accidents can lead to death

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7949195.stm

i got one from lidl or aldi when they were doing their cheap ski gear weekly promotion for about £20 so they needn't cost the earth.

mine saved my bonce last year when the fool i was on a chairlift with fucked up the getoff and i caught caught up in the chair and the bar came crashing down on my head.

i don't believe there to be a significant difference in crash protection between a cheap helmet and an expensive one, ski or motorbike. the differences are largely style, fit, noise etc. the cheapy one i have has tuev approval just as an expensive one has and is ime much better than nothing
